It is science fair week at school, and all the kids in evey grade are getting prepared to blow everyone's minds with their projects. The winner of the contest will get a giant pizza party, and some would do anything to get the grand prize, even the nice ones. Emery is hard at work making a giant model of Mt. Vesuvius while Evan brags about how he will be the one to win the contest. Eddie comes in and is shocked that the fair is this week and he hasn't started anything yet. But he's sure that he can come up with something by the deadline. But during the middle of their conversation, Emery's volcano erupted spilling lava all over and ruining his Lego Minifigures.
At Cattleman's Ranch, a new employee named Vanessa tries to hit on Louis, but he dismisses her remarks as compliments or that she's joking around with him. Jessica comes in to let Louis know that Oscar Chow, her ex-boyfriend from college is coming to visit them. While she may be excited, she was also nervous if he stayed over at their place since Louis might get jealous of her. But Louis assures her that he's perfectly fine with him coming over and is excited too. However, throughtout the day. People were going up to Jessica to express how good it is that Louis isn't the jealous type when exes come over to visit. After Louis finished his conversation with Jessica, Nancy comes over and tells Jessica that if one of her ex's come over and visit, it will be bad time. Later that day, when Jessica goes over to Honey's house to grab a air mattress, she even tells Jessica the same thing. Even Marvin claims that men shouldn't be trusted around Honey since she is such a catch.
Later that day, the boys continued to work on their science projects. Emery continued painting more details to his volcano, and Eddie comes in with a football phone claiming its "science". Evan lectures him that he isn't being useful with his surroundings and he shouldn't take shortcuts. And he ends up showing off to his older brothers his science fair project. A soda powered machine that has wirely access to a nearby printer, to tell him what are the ingriedients that make up the soda. This greatly amazed Eddie, but it caused Emery to get frustrated since he may not win at all...or so he thought. Later on, Evan got a case of the chicken pox and is no longer participating in the science fair. Because of this, Jessica tells everyone that Oscar cannot know someone is sick with the chicken pox and told everyone that no one can go inside Jenny's room or else they'll get it to.
After that, Jessica tries to talk to Louis and discuss the stuff that she plans to do while Oscar is in town. She's doing this in order to find out if Louis is really jealous and won't tell her. But Louis didn't seemed to mind, even when Jessica admitted she wanted to wear a bathing suit while they go jacuzzi shopping. She gets upset by this since he wants Louis to be jealous so he can show some care if another person gets attracted. But before they can continue their conversation, Oscar finally arrives! He gifts the Huangs with a croquembouche, some wood chimes for Eddie, and a pan flute for Emery. He explains to the family that he is here to audition for Aladdin on Ice and is excited to be given a chance. After he goes to the bathroom, Louis points out to Jessica that Oscar is gay. However, Jessica doesn't believe him since they dated for a full summer and they kissed on the forehead. But Louis claims in the past, she has never been able to identify anyone who was gay. This unfortunately lead to the two of them to start arguing. Jessica was still defending Oscar claiming he is an athlete and is a straight man, but Louis tells her he is a dancer who's auditioning for Aladdin on Ice, and the closest he got to being an athlete was being a cheerleading coach. Then Oscar comes in asking to borrow a robe, and that's when Jessica finally picked up the clues and even saw Oscar's "Gaysian" necklace.
Because Eddie has no leads for his science fair project. He figured the only way out of this was to get the chicken pox. He went over to Evan in the hopes he can give it to him, but Evan is refusing to let him off the hook that easily. He really wants Eddie to use his full potential and try his best to make a good project. Not only that, he thinks Emery is the one who truly deserves the chicken pox. He tried to touch him while he was painting his volcano, another time after Emery got out of the shower, and finally at night while he was asleep. But it turns out Eddie was laying there instead of Emery in the hopes of getting it. Unfortunately for Eddie, he didn't get the chicken pox when he woke up and Evan was able to successfully transfer the chicken pox to Emery.
Jessica was still distraught to find out Oscar was gay and couldn't believe that she didn't see any signs. But after she and Honey look through Jessica's college yearbook, they found very obvious clues that clearly points out Oscar's sexuality. In fact, she gets more upset when she found a photo where he wasn't looking at Jessica when they were in a photo. And instead, he was looking at someone else...Louis! Jessica tells him the next morning about her discovery, but Louis didn't think it was true and he would know if Oscar had feelings for him. To which Jessica claims that Louis doesn't know when people flirt with him or if they have a crush on him. Louis continues to deny this but when he joked around with Oscar about an old college girl that liked him, that's when Oscar confirmed they were "dating" back in college. Louis is confused and tells him that weren't dating since they did everything together as friends. But Oscar is serious and mentions about the time he introduce him to his parents, and split dessert together. This infuriated both Jessica and Oscar, since Louis didn't share the same feeling as Oscar did with him. And Jessica felt betrayed since he cared more into getting a better gift for Louis compared to her.
Later that day, Oscar went to Cattleman's Ranch to talk to Louis again. He apologizes to him for storming out and also apologizes for giving the wrong impression back then since he felt safe around him. Louis also apologizes for making things difficult for him, but Oscar assures he didn't do anything since it helped him identify for who he is and hopes he can find the right partner as well. Oscar also felt like apologizing to Jessica too, and they head off to the bar that Jessica goes to when she is feeling down. But she doesn't realize that the bar is a LGBTQ+ bar. Jessica questions Oscar when they arrive on why he bothered to date her even though he's gay. He admits to her that the first rule for someone who's in the closet, is that if you don't want anyone suspecting your gay. Date the hottest girl in school, which is her. Even Louis admitted you don't have to be gay to have a secret like that. This made Jessica feel better about herself since the two people she dated admitted she was hot. And also when she noticed Louis felt a bit nervous about a girl who was looking at them. They all embrace and head back home.
Sadly, the science fair is in 2 hours and Eddie still doesn't have anything to do for his project. He even lost his football phone since Jenny assumed it was an egg and was hoping to grow a bird with it. Emery suggested to him to share his science project but Eddie refused since his project was too lengthy and hard to understand. He knows that getting the chicken pox is not an option anymore since he went to the library and found out it takes 48 hours for one to get chicken pox and how it spreads to your body. This shocks his younger brothers since he unintentionally learned something today. But even though Eddie still hasn't gotten anything to present, the brothers agreed to work together quickly to make something for the fair. Eddie comes back with a box of pizza! But turns out he didn't win the prize and he instead picked it up on the way home. But he warns his brothers to be aware of an angry pizza boy that might show up.
The episode ends with Oscar showing off his dancing skills to the Huangs for his audition, and hopes that he can get the part. But it turns out, he will eventually get the chicken pox too!

Quotes[]
Vanessa: Mr. Huang, you are so funny. Louis: Oh, Vanessa, you're just saying that 'cause I'm the boss. Vanessa: No, really, Louis. I think the sexiest part of a man is his funny bone. I bet you have a big bone. Louis: Funny you should mention that. I do have unusually large bones. Runs in the family. My great-grandfather, bones like a cinderblock, went swimming one time, died. Anyway, keep up the good work. |
Jessica: Thanks again for letting me borrow your air mattress, Honey. I should get my own, but I am very cheap. |
Evan: Eddie, you need to apply yourself. If you keep looking for shortcuts, you'll never realize your potential. Eddie: Where'd you learn that? Oprah? Evan: Barney. On Oprah. |
Louis: Hey, Oscar. Remember Booby Johnson from college? Turns out she had a thing for me. Oscar: Yes, she did. She really liked you, Louis. All the girls did, but they knew she could never have you because you were going out with me. |
Jessica: Wait, so you bought Louis a hundred dollar french press and all I get is this cheap sweatshirt that says "Orlando" on it? I live in Orlando. Oscar: It was all they had at the airport. Jessica: At the airport?! |
Bev: These two guys giving you trouble? [to Oscar and Louis] What are you two sperm bags doing here? Tired of running the world? Oscar: I'm a gay Asian, okay? The only thing I run are half-marathons. Bev: Proceed. |

Trivia[]
