He showed Eddie that he was a fan of the gangsta rap group, N.W.A.. Justin was the person who introduced the hip-hop music genre to Eddie. Ever since Eddie first heard it, he became obsessed with rap music and all type of hip-hop related things. Later in his life, Justin started to feel like he was growing up and stopped listening to rap music and preferred to listen to grunge. At the end of the episode, Justin freaks out when he discovers his dad is in debt, kept him and his mom Connie manipulated into thinking that they were rich upper class, and that his property and house is at risk of repossession now that Steve can't even pay off his Miata. Season 6[]
Justin is now a freshman at UCLA and is taking summer classes when he gets a call from Louis that Eddie is taking a trip to see the campus and if he could stay with him at the dorm. Justin agrees, but is surprised when he discovers that Louis, Jessica, Jenny, Emery and Evan are staying as well. Louis asks what the plan for the day is, and Justin replies that he has a midterm that day and intends to study for it, which Jessica scoffs at, finding UCLA to be subpar as it is Eddie's "safety school." However, Justin reveals that he had a 4.0 GPA, a good SAT score, and even had a rare sit-down with the Dean of Admissions and still got wait-listed, notifying Jessica that UCLA is a hard school to get into.
Just then, Justin's roommate Kip walks in, and Justin informs him that the Huangs would be staying with them, although Kip replies that he doesn't care as he flunked his midterms despite having taking AP classes, attending prep school and even being high school valedictorian. Justin later spends the day watching Mr. Show on television with his friends, inviting Eddie along. Eddie then asks him if they do anything for fun, and Justin responds that they take naps, prompting Eddie to believe that college life is lame and boring.[2]
