"Here's a tiffin for your ride home. Some rice, vegetables, and a samosa for each one of you."
— Mina Patel to Eddie Huang and Evan Huang

Mina Patel is the wife of DC Patel, the mother of Simryn, and the co-owner of the Magic Motor Inn. She first appeared in "The Magic Motor Inn". She is portrayed by Preity Zinta.

History[]

Mina resided in East Orlando with husband DC Patel and daughter Simryn, where they owned and operated a motel known as the Magic Motor Inn. One day, Mina and DC were encountered by Eddie and Evan Huang, who wished to enlist Simryn's help so that Evan could win the spelling bee. When Simryn stated that she was too busy, DC mentioned that it was strong coming from a girl who took fifteen minute showers, and Mina jumped to her daughter's defense by reminding DC that he took 45 minutes just to iron his jeans.

Later that day, Mina and Simryn were in the lobby when DC berated Simryn for lying to them about studying for her spelling bees. As Simryn apologized, citing that she only did so because she knew DC valued hard work, Mina added that everyone knew how much DC valued hard work due to his constant stories about pulling himself up by bootstraps he shared with 30 cousins. DC told Simryn that he still didn't want her to lie to them, and Mina added that she agreed with him.

As Eddie and Evan were set to return home, Mina prepared a tiffin box consisting of rice, vegetables and two samosas for them. Eddie then asked Mina if she intended to get the tiffin container back, citing that his mother Jessica would steal it, only for Mina to respond that Jessica was smart for doing so. Evan invited them to attend his spelling bee, and as DC confirmed that they would attend and moved to hug Evan, Simryn asked her father why he was hugging him, and Mina informed her that DC was actually frisking Evan for stolen shampoos.

Mina later attended the Florida State Spelling Bee with her family, and sat next to the Huangs. As Louis Huang asked if Evan would receive a trophy if he won, Mina replied that he would just get a ribbon and a certificate that would not fit in a standard frame.[1]
