"The Flush" is the seventeenth episode of the third season of Fresh Off the Boat. It first aired on March 14, 2017.
Synopsis[]
Louis plans a guys' weekend for he and Eddie, but is disappointed when he invites his buddies over for a sleepover instead. Unbeknownst to Louis, Eddie and his friends hide out in his room, trying beer for the first time. Meanwhile, Jessica, Emery, Evan, and Honey go on a road trip to Georgia to save a few dollars on a piece of furniture.

Louis: Eddie's buddies crashed the party, but I just rolled with it. Marvin: Going with the flow. That's the backbone of any guys' weekend. Where are the little rug sniffers? Louis: They went to bed. Marvin: Before midnight? With all that testosterone? No. The boy's got a VCR in his room? Louis: Not anymore. He was taping cable shows in the middle of the night. Marvin: Well, that rules out ta-ta movies. He's got fireworks? Louis: We're Chinese. The boys have been over fireworks since they were five. Marvin: Well, did they sneak out to go egging? Louis: Jessica painted the windows shut. Marvin: Then it's got to be booze. Louis: What? No way. Booze. Eddie's growing up, but he's not there yet. Marvin: ...Okay, maybe you're right. I don't mean to overstep. Who knows a son better than his father, right? I'll leave you to it. |
Eddie: What's happening to us? Louis: The Asian Flush. Eddie: What's wrong with me? Am I drunk? Louis: Calm down. Getting agitated will just make it worse. Eddie: Worse?! Louis: It's called the Asian Flush. It's an allergic reaction. Your body lacks the enzyme to process alcohol. It doesn't affect everyone. Your mom and grandma don't have it. Eddie: What's gonna happen to me? Louis: Well, everyone reacts different. For me, my face gets hot and red, my throat and eyes get itchy, and my heart races. You didn't drink much, so it shouldn't last long. Eddie: Great, just another way I'm different from everyone else. |
Eddie: I don't get it. I've seen you drink alcohol before and this never happened to you. Louis: Well, I've learned to adapt over the years. At first, around my white friends, I'd fake drunk. Then if I was with my Chinese friends, I could just let it fly because they understood. And then, eventually, I developed a pre-game routine to fight it the best I could. My Flush Pack. Before I drink, I take these precautions and it lessens the side effects. Pepcid, inhaler, eye drops, Tums. Eddie: You have to do all this nonsense every time you drink? Louis: I don't write checks my body can't cash. |
Eddie: First we can't drink milk, and now this. Asians got jobbed. Why did you never tell me about this? Louis: I was going to when you were old enough to start drinking. I guess I didn't realize you were there. Eddie: Yeah, well, I learned my lesson– Louis: Your mom and I will take that into consideration when we figure out your punishment. Eddie: Damn. |
