"The Hand That Sits the Cradle" is the second episode of the fifth season of Fresh Off the Boat. It first aired on October 12, 2018.
Synopsis[]
When Jessica offers to help out exhausted new mother Honey with Zuo Yue Zi - which means "Sitting the Month" taking care of her - Honey begins to realize that 30 days of having to abide by Jessica's strict rules and dietary regimen could leave her more harried then she already is. Meanwhile, after watching "Pumping Iron", Eddie and Emery attempt to put together a workout routine in order to buff themselves up; and Louis tries to bond more with Evan, who is a die-hard "mommy guy".

I mean, she's not using it anymore. Evan: It's so great that mysterious billionaire bought all the copies of Mommy's book and insisted she retire. Emery: She told me Tom Clancy paid her so she could stop writing because he feared the competition. Eddie: You two are such idiots. The mysterious billionaire was Tom Clancy. Evan: Oh! Louis: Uh, yep, that's exactly what happened. |
Honey: I don't know if it's the Goji or what, but something's happening. I think I feel my milk letting down. Jessica: Surrender to the Goji. |
Louis: Hey, bud. What you doing? Reading? Evan: Trying to. Louis: Ooh, "Churchill: Lad to Legend." Big book. Big man. Evan: Dad, can I help you with something? Louis: No, I just thought we could hang out, me and you. Evan: Uh, I don't really "hang". Louis: Sure you do! I see you in here with Mom all the time. Hanging, chilling, maxing, relaxing. And now I'm worried. Maybe I'm not an "Evan Guy". Jessica: Please, you think I'm an "Eddie Guy"? You don't have to be a perfect match with your son to have a relationship with him. Louis: Hmm. Jessica: You'll find some common ground, probably when you least expect it. Like how Eddie and I discovered we both like to kick anthills. Louis: I don't know how you two can do that. The ants work so hard on those hills. Jessica: My point is, there's no such thing as "quality time". Time is time. |
